Marshmello Wins Best EDM/Dance Artist

Just announced, Marshmello takes home the award for Best EDM/Dance Artist or Group at the 2018 iHeartRadio MMVAs, beating out Calvin Harris, Kygo, Zedd, Sofi Tukker, and Loud Luxury.

The American electronic music producer and DJ was presented with the award during tonight’s show, making it his very first iHeartRadio MMVAs win. The award was presented by iHeartRadio MMVAs host Awkwafina along with Emmy Award winner and professional choreographer Derek Hough.

While accepting the award, Marshmello took off his signature helmet to reveal his true identity, but the person under the helmet wasn’t who we were expecting. Instead of Christopher Comstock, the man behind Marshmello, Shawn Mendes revealed himself instead, shocking fans everywhere and making the crowd question—where is the real Marshmello? Although the DJ was missing in action, Shawn Mendes definitely makes a good stand-in.

In addition to being nominated for the Best EDM/Dance Artist or Group iHeartRadio MMVA, Marshmello also earned two nominations for Song of the Summer and Best Collaboration for his Anne-Marie assisted track “FRIENDS.”

The 2018 iHeartRadio MMVAs, hosted by Awkwafina, features performances from 98 Degrees, The Beaches, Bebe Rexha, Brett Kissel, bülow, Meghan Trainor, Shawn Mendes, Kris Wu (吴亦凡), 5 Seconds of Summer, Alessia Cara, Halsey, and Marshmello featuring Anne-Marie.
