Kris Wu Performs A Medley Of His Most Notable Tracks
Canadian-Chinese hip-hop artist Kris Wu (吴亦凡) is steadily on the rise of a North American takeover. On top of hanging out with your favourite celebs, Wu has been making moves in the acting, fashion, and basketball world with suave and flare.
Staying true to his signature style, when introduced to the iHeartRadio MMVAs stage by the show’s co-host Tyrone Edwards and country duo The Reklaws, Wu delivered a hyped-up, smoked-out medley of his singles “18,” “Like That,” and “Deserve.”
Starting the performance alone on stage, Kris was later joined by his drummer and DJ, who helped keep the crowd hyped during Wu’s performance of “Like That.” Dropping a piece of clothing for each song, Kris performed in a black tee, dark jeans and gold chains for his final track, “Deserve.”
Following his split from K-pop boy band EXO, Wu released his first official single as a solo artist. “Deserve,” featuring ASTROWORLD’s Travis Scott, reached No. 1 on the U.S. iTunes chart, making Wu the first Chinese artist to do so. Among Wu’s 2018 releases are “Like That” and “18,” both of which have major radio play potential.
On his “18” verse, Wu compares himself to Kanye West, stating, “I’m the Yeezus from the East / You need to Watch the Throne.”
Though the 27-year-old rapper is just starting out, Wu’s iHeartRadio MMVAs performance proves that he certainly is a performer. We smell major Yeezus potential.
The 2018 iHeartRadio MMVAs, hosted by Awkwafina, features performances from Shawn Mendes, Alessia Cara, Meghan Trainor, Kris Wu (吴亦凡), Marshmello featuring Anne-Marie, Brett Kissel, bülow, The Beaches, Bebe Rexha, 98 Degrees, 5 Seconds of Summer and Halsey.
