Drake Wins The iHeartRadio MMVA For Best Hip-Hop Artist Or Group

As arguably the most paramount Canadian rapper Toronto has ever seen, it makes sense that Drake wins the iHeartRadio MMVA for Best Hip Hop Artist or Group.

The “Nice for What” rapper entered the scene in 2001 when he portrayed the character of Jimmy on the Canadian teen drama, Degrassi. After Drake left the show in 2007, he began to seriously pursue his rap career with the release of his first mixtape, Room for Improvement. Fast forward to 11 years later and Drake is an internationally followed, heavily quoted household name. The rapper’s latest double studio album, Scorpion, includes the singles “God’s Plan,” “I’m Upset,” “In My Feelings,” “Nonstop,” “Don’t Matter to Me,” and “Nice for What,” all of which reached the top ten in the Billboard Hot 100.

This year Drake is nominated for a total of five iHeartRadio MMVAs, including Video of the Year and Song of the Summer.

The 2018 iHeartRadio MMVAs, hosted by Awakwafina, features performances from Shawn Mendes, Alessia Cara, Meghan Trainor, Kris Wu (吴亦凡), Marshmello featuring Anne-Marie, Brett Kissel, bülow, The Beaches, Bebe Rexha, 98 Degrees, 5 Seconds of Summer and Halsey.
