The Best Dances From Our iHeartRadio MMVAs Performers And Presenters
The iHeartRadio MMVAs have always featured star-studded performances from superstar singers, but that doesn’t mean that the stage hasn’t seen its fair share of dance moves. From Macklemore’s 2016 performance of “Dance Off” to Lorde’s unforgettable moves during her 2017 performance, artists from far and wide always show up to the show with a few new dance moves up their sleeves. This year’s event features a whole new line up of talented performers and presenters that may just have you up and out of your seat, trying to dance along with the choreography that they have in store.
Emmy-winner Derek Hough has had a pretty impressive roster this year so far. The professional choreographer, dancer, actor, and singer has appeared in everything from Dancing with the Stars to Footloose: The Musical, Hairspray Live!, and even Nashville, but his most impressive performance so far may just have been his 2015 Dancing with the Stars routine to Sia’s “Elastic Heart” with sister Julianne Hough. This dance routine was special because not only was Sia performing with them on stage, but they also had two children acting as younger versions of themselves who danced to the same choreography.
With her mother being a figure skater and choreographer, there’s no doubt that dancing comes naturally to multi-talented singer and actor, Hayley Kiyoko. She has been breaking it down her whole life, and even choreographed for The Agoura High Step Team, which was a dance team that she created in high school. Kiyoko has been known to choreograph her own music videos, but one of her most memorable dances was caught on tape back in February when she dropped in on a dance class in Los Angeles. The 27-year-old surprised a session of dancers that were learning choreography to her song “Curious.”
Whether he’s singing on stage, playing basketball on the court, or dancing in the studio, Kris Wu is a man of many talents. Not only have there been many dance crews posting their choreography to Wu’s music on YouTube, but the rapper himself has also posted a video of the choreography that he does to “JULY,” his own 2016 hip hop anthem. Wu breaks it down in the video and truly proves that his moves can steal the attention of any room.
In the Whitney Houston-inspired single, Bebe Rexha and Lil Wayne team up for “The Way I Are (Dance With Somebody), all while showing off their best moves on camera. In the music video for the single, Rexha struts down the street in a bright red leather jacket and then joins her talented gang of backup dancers for Bollywood-inspired choreography. The singer is then seen taking part in a sultry salsa dance with her male counterpart that brings all the right moves.
Jasmeet Singh (aka Jus Reign) is a Canadian comedian, with his videos focusing on real-life situations related to the South Asian community. But not only does he bring culture and comedy to the forefront, he’s also brought along some pretty sweet dance moves. Jus Reign teamed up with fellow YouTuber Timothy Delaghetto for their infamous “Bounce” dance-off video, which quickly reached over 2 million views on YouTube. We can’t promise that he’ll break out these sweet moves on the iHeartRadio MMVAs red carpet, but we’re hoping that the funnyman will have something up his sleeve.
