Camila Cabello Spills On Her Love For Justin Bieber, Alessia Cara And Arkells
When Camila Cabello returned to the iHeartRadio MMVA stage this year, there was a big difference. The pop star closed out the show last year surrounded by her former band mates in Fifth Harmony, but as a newly solo artist, all eyes were on Camila’s first solo performance at the award show on Sunday night.
“I was nervous, but I was telling my parents this backstage, the crowd is so nice! They were like, ‘I love you,’ and you’re like, oh, I’m just performing for nice people,” said Cabello.
Speaking with our cameras backstage, Cabello was quick to praise the amazing MMVA crowd. “Sometimes you do award shows and it’s like, the first ten rows are people just looking at you like this,” said Cabello as she crossed her arms. “It’s really intimidating. That’s what made me nervous. But here it felt like a concert, so it was really fun.”
Not only did Cabello stay busy during the MMVAs by performing and picking up the award for Best New International Artist, the singer also got to see some of her favourite artists. A self-declared fan of fellow performers Arkells, Cabello’s love of Canada runs deep, with the singer saying she would love to work with MMVA host Alessia Cara.
As for Cabello’s thoughts on Canadian pop star Justin Bieber and his cover of “Despacito,” Camila is all for it. “He sounds really great on the song. I feel like his voice has such a velvety tone to it and then when he sings in Spanish, obviously all the girls are like, it’s over.” Muy caliente, indeed.
