Arkells Reveal What It’s Really Like To Be Backstage At The iHeartRadio MMVAs
At Sunday’s iHeartRadio MMVAs, Canadian rockers Arkells are not only nominated for two awards, but they’re also set to perform on the main stage for the first time. It’s a big next step for the local Hamilton band, who spent years being the go-to group for the iHeartRadio MMVAs staff after-party, later graduating to presenter duties at past award shows. Now the first-time performers are up for two iHeartRadio Much Music Video Awards, including Best Rock/Alternative Video and Fan for “Knocking At The Door,” and are ready to rock the main stage.
The band will be performing their hit single “Knocking At The Door” during Sunday’s show, but after the show there’s the after party and it’s a place the five-piece have found themselves before. Arkells members Max Kerman and Mike DeAngelis sat down with Much VJ Liz Trinnear to discuss what it’s really like backstage at the iHeartRadio MMVAs. Spoiler alert: Rihanna is a real person and seeing her in 3D is as shocking as you would expect.
The members also revealed their favourite iHeartRadio MMVA memory (it has to do with a huge pop star joining them on stage at the after party) and what really went down to inspire the track “Drake’s Dad.”
Don’t miss Arkells performing at the 2017 iHeartRadio MMVAs along with Camila Cabello, Lorde, Imagine Dragons, Julia Michaels, Post Malone, Jazz Cartier, Niall Horan, DNCE, and Iggy Azlea.
